Obituary for Nancy Carol Gupton Hayden Byrnes

Nancy Carol Gupton Hayden Byrnes, 83, of Cunningham passed away at 9:30 am on Monday, September 30, 2019 at her home.

Affectionately called “Maw” by all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and “Aunt Nancy” by her nieces and nephews, Nancy traveled all over the Country and loved antiques, especially glassware and dishes.

She loved quilting and sewing and she made baby quilts for her grandchildren and their families as a remembrance from her. She loved gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren...and did we say she loved her dishes and glassware?

Nancy attended St. Charles Catholic Church and Corinth United Methodist Church over her lifetime. She retired from the United States Enrichment Corporation, was a caterer and concession vendor, and she was the owner of Me and Maws Restaurant in Bardwell.

She was survived by her three daughters, Sharman Booker and husband, Tony of Cunningham, Patti Andrews and husband, Mark of Paducah, Stephanie Dunn Gibson and husband, Don of Bardwell; sister, Elaine Jarvis of Lafayette, IN; grandchildren, TJ Booker, Jackie Doublin, Andrew Hayden, Jennifer Owens, Ragan Dunn, Aaron Dunn, Karen O’Brien, David Andrews, Jeremy Hayden, Mandy Ullrich and Jason Ullrich; great-grandchildren, Amelia, Anna, and Alina Booker; Natalie Owens; Tristen Tyler, Taylar Owens and Hayden Owens, Addie O’Brien, Leah Powell, and Mark Evan Hayden; several special and loved nieces and nephews; and her special friends, Frank, George, Teresa, Cindi, and Lucille along with her dear cousin, Shirley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Josh and Cecilia Cissell Gupton; two sons, David L. Hayden and Mark A. Hayden.

The family would like to give special thanks to Caregivers and friends from Professional Case Management who became part of her extended family and thank you to each and everyone who lifted up prayers, visited, and otherwise supported us throughout Mom’s illness. She passed with her family around her. You are much loved and appreciated and we feel as if you were angels sent from God! Prayer is so important and so are friends. Mom fought the valiant fight and we know she is with our brothers in Heaven who were waiting with open arms. We won’t forget her nurses and caregivers who ministered to us as well as mom.

You may remember mom by donating to the Autism Society of Southern Illinois, St. Jude, or St. Charles Catholic Church.

A Private graveside service will be held at a later date.

Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah is in charge of arrangements.

You may leave a message for the family or light a candle at milnerandorr.com.
